Light Motorised Gantry Crane (PLM) / Manual push (PLE)

PLM The light motorised gantry crane (PLM) from Selmetron, S.L. is a device prepared for lifting a load and transporting it without effort to its destination, thanks to the action of the motors at both sides of the gantry crane and under the control of a single operator.

It consists of a free-movement gantry over the ground (no rails) generally equipped with a hoist.

It also allows configuring the manual push (PLE). It presents great flexibility in its movements since it can move in any direction thanks to its steerable wheels. However, it requires two operators to move it.

Of course, more classical variants are also possible such as the rail-mounted models or the models attached to the ground.

The range covers loads from 250Kg to 5,000Kg, with a distance between supports from 2 to 8 metres and a maximum height below beam of 5 m in the standard models. Other measures are possible upon request.

Adjustable height gantry (PEX/PMX)

PEX-PMX

This type of gantry covers the same range as the PLE or PLM, up to 4,000Kg of load capacity and an adjustable height in steps of 100mm, up to a total variation of 1m. The maximum height is 5m.

Medium type motorised gantry crane (PMM)

The medium type motorised gantry crane (PMM) is an extension of the PLM. With a higher performance structure and motorisation, it can handle loads up to 16Tn., with a height below beam of up to 10m., and light up to 15m. It is available with single girder or a double girder, depending on the characteristics.

Common features on all models

All frames are CE safety (Machinery Directive 98/37/EC), and issued the corresponding certificate of conformity.

Ground Requirements
The gantries are equipped with polyamide or steel nucleus wheels and polyurethane strap. Therefore, its proper functioning requires a steady and flat ground with a maximum slope of 2%. Cement, reinforced concrete or asphalt grounds are perfectly valid. Slopes higher than 2% are available upon request.
Movement capacity
The gantry can carry out a variety of basic movements combining the activation towards one side or the other, or by stopping one of the gantry’s two motors. For example:

Optionally, the gantry can be equipped of a mechanism that allows manually turning the motorised wheels 90º. This would cause the gantry to move laterally in a straight line.

This can be useful in situations similar to the represented where there is not enough space to manoeuvre with the turns.

Assembly
The bridge cranes come in ‘kits’ so that they are very easy to assemble, always following the instructions in the user’s manual; the joints of the mechanical parts are bolted, and the electrical connections are made through connectors and cables existing in the bridge crane.

Therefore, the user may assemble it with support from Selmetron S.L., or he may ask Selmetron S.L. to do it, as preferred.

Electric power source
All the models, both the PLM as the PMM, have a single point for connection to the power source. From it, the power is distributed to the gantry’s motors and to the hoist. The standard power is:

  • 400 v. Triphase, 50 Hz, 3 phases + T
  • 230 v. Triphase, 50 Hz, 3 phases + T
  • 230 v. Monophase, 50 Hz, 2 phases + T

Other voltages are available upon request.

Battery power source
All the motorized models —PLM, PMX and PMM— can be supplied with power through 48v c.c. batteries. There are two standard options:

  1. Battery supply only for moving the gantry; the movements for lifting and transferring the pulley require an electrical connection.
  2. Battery supply for all the movements of the gantry and pulley.

The 48 v c.c. (batteries) are converted to 230v a.c. (gantry and pulley box motors) through Selmetron, S.L. modules. These modules are available in powers of 1.5Kw, 3Kw and 4 Kw and can be combined in a modular form to obtain higher powers.
The battery models are supplied as standard items with a charge status indicator and optionally, with a battery charger.

Control
Regularly, the gantry is supplied with low voltage button controls of 48v ca/ 24v cc.
Optionally, it can be equipped with a radio control to control all the gantry’s and hoist’s movements.

Request, the control system can be adapted in accordance to the client’s preferences.

Applications
The applications are very diverse and, depending on the performance/price relation, they can be more suitable than the bridge cranes. Also suitable for temporary installation. Some examples are:

  • Loading/unloading of trucks
  • Service to one or more machines
  • Movement of voluminous pieces; industrial boilers, nautical, moulds, etc.
  • Assembling/disassembling of parts in bigger machines; automobile industry, trucks, naval industry, helicopter repair, etc.
  • Load transportation within the plant or to the exterior grounds.
